Chevre, this week’s parsha is מִשְׁפָּטִים (Mishpatim) and it’s also Rosh Chodesh Adar. So there is an idea that Adar is upside 🙃 and/or backwards because Adar has Purim 🤡. Maybe for us this year, that means going out of lockdown for 1 day 🤷♂️.
So the parsha starts off pretty dry with all kinds of laws around slavery, loans, damages. But at the end there is the prophecy at Har Sinai. Hold on, didn’t we get the Torah last week? How is it that Moshe is going up this week to get the Torah? Well, there is the idea of there is no before and after in the Torah, but we also have here the famous phrase נעשה ונשמע (We will do and we will listen/obey). So sight unseen, we’ll do what you say and then we go and learn it.
I bet there are a lot of account teams that would love this, it would make migrations so much easier, do it first and then learn the details. But this is very similar to what a Lift and Shift is. Get on the cloud first and then learn the details piece by piece and go through the “R”s of re-architect, re-host, re-platform, re-factor, re-tire. So essentially, the Children of Israel and our customers are both saying, “We understand the benefit and we are committing to this path. We’ll learn the details later”. May we all have the ability to see the bright future that is coming. Shabbat Shalom, Chodesh Tov and remember Mishanichnas, Adar, Marbim BeSimcha (When Adar enters, Joy increases).
