Vayera - 2022

Chevre, this week’s parsha is וַיֵּרָא (Vayera). This week’s parsha starts with the 3 strangers visiting Avraham who is recovering from his Brit Milah (circumcision). This is were the sages learn the mitzvah of visiting the sick. While attending to sick applications, workloads, instances and lambads are important, visiting severly sick folks properly is important. Proper means showing you are thinking about them (Chime, Zoom, Phone Call, Email, Whatsap, actually visiting), but also respecting that they may not have the strength for visitors. It’s a fine line. Regarding that broken Lambda, you don’t have to respect its’ feelings you can visit and attend to it.

Now, when the strangers arrived, despite how Avraham felt, he jumped up and started running around to attend to his guests. We learn from this the mitzvah of attending to visitors. Here, we see how important the User Experience is and how welcoming we need to be. Front End matters. ;-)

May all our sick friends, relatives and co-workers be healed and may we experience the joy of visiting with each other again. Shabbat Shalom.
