Chevre, there is no parsha this week, it’s Shabbat and the 7th Day of Pesach (Passover). The major event that happened on the 7th Day of Pesach is the Splitting of the Sea. It’s now become a saying that something may be hard, but it’s not the splitting of the sea. And AWS often says that it takes care of the undifferentiated heavy lifting so that the customers can focus on their business. This undifferentiated heavy lifting are the hard things that may be easier for the provider to do and/or are more economical at scale. An example is the handling of encryption, which often in AWS is a checkbox. And the encryption, by default, between data centers and often between instances.
This Chol HaMoed, in between day trips to The Israel Antiquities Authority, Rav Kook’s House, etc; I worked a number of technologies including Internet access failover, at my router, between my house’s fiber and a 4G connection. The self-healing of the network by detecting drops in BW usage and the rebooting of devices using smart switches. All of this was made possible by the addition of a Mikrotik router into my network and Home Assistant.
So yes, vacation included progress in technologies for me. Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach.
