Chevre, tonight starts Chag Sukkot (סוכות). We leave our comfortable homes and sit in booths as a reminder to what our ancestors did on their journey to Eretz Yisrael. This is the first time in many years I had to extricate the succah from the attic and put it up by myself. No teenager around to help. Don’t worry, he built a succah on his base and he’ll be with us for part of the holiday.
I have a good friend that originally installed wifi (many years ago) in order to be able to work in his succah. My first wifi was an Apple Airport. It looked like a giant Hershey’s Kiss.

The idea of cutting wires and starting to roam around the house was liberating. Now, with my Tailscale setup (Mesh VPN), it’s even better. It doesn’t matter where I am in the world, I have access to all my resources.
It is this liberation that was instilled in the Jewish People after the fall of The Temple. Anyone, Anywhere could reach out to HaShem through prayer. And we do. May this Chag Sukkot be a Zman Simchatenu to all of Am Yisrael and may we see it as a liberating holiday even as we sit in our booths outside our homes.
