Chevre, this week’s parsha is Toldot (תולדות). This week we have a lot of family drama. We have the birth of Yaakov and Esav. Esav sells his birthright to Yaakov for a bowl of lentils (soup). And we have the deception of Yitchak. So Rivka hears that Yitchak will bless Esav and she fears he’ll bless Esav with the blessing of Avraham. So she and Yaakov deceive Yitchak to steal the blessing. Obviously, Yitchak was not checking SIG4 signing of the messages. Esav is SO angry, that Yaakov is forced to flee.

When we build platforms and networks, even at home, it is natural to have less security precautions on known networks. The message here for us is that even on internal networks, we need to ensure we are using encryption and verification so maintain the functionality we need while ensuring that only trusted and authorized users and components are accessing our systems.
