Vayakel-Pekudei - HaChodesh - 2026

Chevre, this week’s parsha is Vayakel-Pekudei (ויקהל-פקודי) and Parshat HaChodesh. This week we finish the Book of Shemot (Exodus). We already learned about the plans for the Mishkan (Tabernacle) and that everything was built according to the plans. This week, the Mishkan is assembled. Anyone working with GenAI these days will know that the fact that you plan something and then build it does not absolutely mean that it’ll be erected and function the way you planned. I personally have been spending many evenings with my friend Kiro-CLI working on a little project for my wife. (Things to do in the safe room …)

This week is also Parshat HaChodesh, we will bless the new month that is coming up this week. That means we are about 2 weeks from Pesach (Passover). When there was a Temple, this was a reminder that we needed to purify ourselves in preparation for the holiday. Today, this means we need to start cleaning. Our required Pesach cleaning and optional Spring cleaning list is already printed and hanging on the fridge.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that today is my mother’s 23rd yahrzeit. I pray she enjoys these write-ups every week in Shamayim.

Shabbat Shalom.
