Vayikra - 2023

Chevre, this week’s parsha is וַיִּקְרָא (Vayikra). We start what the sages called the Book of Cohanim. There are a lot of rules about the operation of the Mishkan (Tabernacle). What strikes me this week that I think we may often gloss over is that the sacrifices are expensive. I know it’s ironic that we use the word sacrifice in our daily lives, but here we are talking about adding salt, a super expensive spice of the time, to all the meat.
