Chevra, this week’s parsha is כִּי תִּשָּׂא (Ki Tisa) and Parshat פרה (Parah). The main focus of the parsha this week is the Golden Calf. Beforehand, Moshe receives the 1st tablets and afterwards, he recreates them. This week is also Parshat Parah, where we are reminded that before Pesach, we need to become tahor to bring the Korban Pesach to the Temple. It appears to just be a coincidence that the Golden Calf and Parshat Parah fall on the same Shabbat. Each time Moshe went up to Har HaBayit he was there for 40 days. I truly hope we are not home bound for 40 days. What is interesting here is that the Israelites built the Golden Calf because they didn’t know what had happened to Moshe. Very similar to how the world is reacting to the fear of the virus. As with the time of Moshe, we should keep calm and patient, do our best to keep our lives as normal as possible while still adhering to the rules set out by our health organizations. And be proud that the cloud is more important than ever to the continued functioning of the Hi Tech world at this time and that it enables so many people to continue to provide for their families and keep everyone connected. May we all see the end to this calamity soon. Shabbat Shalom.
