Lech Lecha - 2020

Chevre, this week’s parsha is לֶךְ לְךָ (Lech Lecha). At the end of last week, we had the Tower of Bavel. So it seems that the world started with 1 language. As we know today, the world has many languages (I’ll throw a few in here: Ada, Bash, C (and all it’s derivatives), Java, Perl, Python, SQL, Typescript and many many many more).

What strikes me intresting this week’s parsha is that Avraham wouldn’t take honors or rewards for the battle of the 5 kings, but he did take presents from Egypt. It’s almost as if the data from the 5 kinds would have been tainted, but the data from Egypt was already normalized and ready for use. Maybe this is the difference in the sources and how organized they are. No ETL (Extract Transform Load) was required on the data from Egypt and so he was able and willing to accept it, but the data from the 5 kings was too difficult to use.

Shabbat Shalom.
