Chevre, this week’s parsha is אַחֲרֵי מוֹת - קְדֹשִׁים (Achrei Mot - Kedoshim). We learn this week about a lot of things we should be doing and shouldn’t be doing individually. Fore example, don’t pass your children through the Molech. This was a practice that took place where children would either be passed through fire or a ring of fire and it was a form of idol worship (עבודה זרה Avodah Zarah, literally strange work). This would take place in a wadi in Jerusalem called Gehinom. Currently, this is outside the walls of The Old City and is used for outdoor concerts. The modern Hebrew גֵיהִנוֹם (Gehinom) meaning hell comes from this activity. We also find in the parsha that we should be holy and remain pure otherwise the land will throw us out. It’s like the original EULA. So I bless you and please bless me back, that we should always be pure and straight (yashar יָשָׁר) and always be welcomed in the land and in AWS. Shabbat Shalom.
