Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot - 2021

Chevre, there is no parsha this week because it’s Shabbat Chol HaMoed Sukkot. ;-) What is special about this Shabbat is that we will be reading קהלת (Kohelet) or Ecclisiastes in English. This book is traditionally believed to be written by Shlomo HaMelech. What is interesting to me is that Sukkot is called Zman Simchatenu in Musaf. But Kohelet is pretty dark, like the author is depressed for most of the book. Maybe he’s worried about a storm hitting his Data Center? I guess if he was in the cloud with Multi-AZ automated failover or using something like CloudFront, Global Accelerator, DynamoDB Global Tables and/or S3 Multi-Region Access Points all of which allow for Multi-Region access, then he wouldn’t depressed about the storm. There is a notable section of Kohelet that talks about a time for everything. This was mentioned in Footloose [1], a famous song (Turn, Turn, Turn) [2] and it reminds us that there are times for everything. During Sukkot, we are supposed to be happy. Let the automated systems run themselves and spend time with your family. From my Succah to you, I’m wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and Modim LeSimcha.
