Chevre, this week’s parsha is בְּהַר - בְּחֻקֹּתַי (Behar Behukotai). I heard a story about some friends of ours. One of their sons is learning Pirkei Avot about the passing down of the Torah. His 3 year old brother, Sinai, learned that he gave the Torah to Moshe. ;-)
There is an interesting passage this week about preventing poverty. It appears to be a mitzvah to prevent someone from becoming poor. The examples in the parsha are around lending without interest and giving food. In today’s modern age, I would extend this to education, teaching a trade or skill and in my cloud world, helping folks see architectural problems that may likely come back and bite their wallet later. To hear more, this will be the subject of my talk (in Hebrew, my second language) at the AWS TLV Summit on May 31st in Tel Aviv. Registration is free. https://aws.amazon.com/events/summits/tel-aviv/
