Bamidbar - 2024

Chevre, this week’s parsha is BaMidbar (בְּמִדְּבַּר). As we start the book of Numbers, we can see that the Torah has the Bnei Yisrael take a census, then lays out the order of the camps, who will pitch their encampment where around the Mishkan. Followed by a census of the Levites and the assignment of jobs to the Levites. As I’ve been deep into CloudFormation recently, this all makes sense to me. First we need to know what our requirements are based on the scale of the number of folks there are, then we layout the architecture with an encampment and then start assigning tasks or jobs to the now deployed resources. We then get into the Kohanim (priests) jobs. Soon the nation that is being formed in the desert will be ready to operate. And this template (continuing the CloudFormation theme), slightly modified, is then used later in the Holy Temple and the deployment of the tribes around Israel.

This week my heart, prayers and virtual hugs go out to the family of Rafael Kauders הי״ד who fell in battle in the north of Israel this week and was laid to rest yesterday. He was a former neighbor of mine and his in-laws live on street. May all of Am Yisrael Globally know true peace speedily in our days. Shabbat Shalom
