Shevii Shel Pesach - 2024

Chevre, tonight and tomorrow is Shevi’i Shel Pesach (שביעי של פסח). On this day, The Jewish People experienced the splitting of the Red Sea. You may have noted that throughout the week, we only said a full Hallel on the first day of Pesach. The rest of the days we say, what is called, half Hallel. This is because of the toll the exiting of Egypt took on the Egyptians. While HaShem saved the Jewish People, we recognize that it caused the death of many Egyptians. Golda Meir had 2 quotes that always come to mind in this train of thought: “When peace comes, we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons.” and “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

I don’t usually like to get political, but in the current atmosphere both in Israel and abroad, it’s hard to not have an opinion. I pray for the return of our hostages on this Holiday of Freedom, for the safety of all our security forces, and for a true 2-sided peace speedily in our days. Chag Sameach.

B”H, I’ll be back on the cloud topic for Shabbat Achrei Mot.
