Chevre, this week’s parsha is Emor (אמור). The parsha starts by talking about the Cohanim (the priests). The Laws of the Cohen and the Cohen Gadol. What blemishes disqualifies (in my code it would be a missing , or ; ). There is a discussion of Terumah, the offerings given to the Cohen. We then have blemished animals. In my world, blemishes are security bugs or recently, I found that some of my code was out of order so the update to the file wasn’t being pushed properly.
We then have a rundown of the festivals. Pesach, the Omer (we’re in this time now), Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. Today is actually Pesach Sheni (not listed in the parsha). But it’s a redo, for anyone that was not pure during Pesach, they can bring the Korban Pesach (Passover Sacrifice) today. At work we often talk to customers about retry with exponential backoff. Here we just have 1 retry. But it’s an opportunity to fulfill this mitzvah.
I bless you all to strive to get it right the first time. But know that Judaism is full of examples of trying and trying again until we get it right.
Shabbat Shalom.
