Chevre, this week’s parsha is VaEtchanan (ואתחנן). This is a big week in the Jewish world. Yesterday was Tisha BeAv, the day we mourn the destruction of both the First and Second Temples. And now in the parsha we have both The 10 Commandments and The Shema.

Recently, I’ve been using the AWS AI-SDLC to assist me in what I thought was an easy project. When I tried through several AI engines (Kiro and ChatGPT) the result was less than stellar. However, now with the AI-SDLC (which walks you through question by question to make sure the AI understand the whole picture) and several iterations through Codex+Kiro, I was finally able to produce an acceptable solution. The first thing the latest version of this formulated was to build an Infrastructure CloudFormation template. From the foundation, the rest of the particulars could be built.

Judaism used to be based on Temple Service. When The Second Temple was destroyed, the sages morphed this service into our daily prayers. Our prayers and devotions take the place of the sacrifices. We see this directly in the Mussaf prayers for Shabbat and the Holidays when we recite what the sacrifices used to be. Even through, this cataclysmic change, the foundations of Judaism, the 10 Commandments and Shema shined through. We receive the Shema at least 2 times a day. The 10 Commandments used to be recited daily, but was removed by the sages due to a split in the people regarding if the 10 Commandments were everything or if the whole Written and Oral Torah were the basis for Jewish Law (Halacha).
