Chevra, this week’s parsha is Re’eh, but Shabbat is also Rosh Chodesh Elul. Elul (אלול), as you may know, according to our sages is a acronym for אני לדודי ודודי לי from Shir HaShirim (I am to my beloved and [as] my beloved is to me). The sages tell us that Shir HaShirim is a love letter/poem/message between HaKadosh Baruch Hu and Am Yisrael. Elul is a time of tshuva before Rosh Hashanah.
