Chevra this week’s parsha is Va’Eira. The bulk of the parsha is taken up with 7 of the 10 plagues. Yesterday at a customer’s site I saw a t-shirt that read: “Science is Magic that works”. It took a lot for HaShem to convince Paroah to let the Bnei Yisrael leave Egypt. To the Egyptians a lot of the things that were happening looked like Magic, but I’ve seen lots of documented discussions about how some of the plagues may have been possible. In the world of AWS, we talk a lot about how moving to AWS benefits our customers. This week, I completed my migration of personal workloads to AWS and my estimate is that I’ll be saving 47% this year because of it. Learning something in theory is nice, but seeing it in my own bank account is something else. During the Seder, we are to see everything as if we left Egypt. The Sages saw that knowing something and living something are at different levels of understanding. I bless you all to see yourselves move from Egypt to Eretz Yisrael and from on-prem to our cloud.
