Vayishlach - 2019

Chevra, this week’s parsha is וַיִּשְׁלַח (Vayishlach). In this parsha we have Yaakov confronting Esav, but before that he spends the night fighting with a “man”.  There are a lot of ideas who this “man” or angel was. One idea is that Yaakov was fighting with himself (like an Aurora storage sync about who had what data first), who he wants to be. When he comes out of the battle, he is told he’ll get the name Yisrael and he is no longer passive, but is active. He becomes Biased for Action, but more than that, he starts to take control of where he’s going and starts making decisions (Are Right A Lot). As we get into the end of the year and evaluate ourselves and look into where we want to go in the near and more distant future. Remember to drive the process and not let it drive you (Think Big). When I first started to drive at 16, I felt the car was often driving me. It took experience and a better understanding for what was happening to take control of the car. Our time at Amazon can be similar and we need to understand where we want to go and drive our time at Amazon to get to those goals. Shabbat Shalom
