Chevra, this week’s parsha is בְּהַעֲלֹתְּךָ (Beha’alotcha). There is an interesting section in our parsha. It states that the Levites will perform their functions from the age of 25, this actually starts their apprenticeship and they actually start working at 30. It then states that they will retire at the age of 50. From 50, they will not perform the functions of a Levi, but will minister with his brothers to safeguard the charge. The mefarshim disagree what tasks the Levite at age 50 stopped doing. What is clear, however, is that he was still responsible to help train the younger generation. So the Levites had pretty structured Hire and Develop the Best. It is clear, that they were given 5 years to learn their trade or position inside The Temple or Mishkan and later they were responsible for passing on their knowledge. May we all be able to follow suit and pass on the positive parts of our knowledge and experiences to better those around us. Shabbat Shalom.
