Chevre, there is no parsha this week. This Shabbat is סֻכּוֹת (Sukkot). When I was still running data centers, I spent a lot of time in them. Wiring, checking the A/C Temperature, setting up monitoring. As we prepare to exit the confines of our houses and enter the Sukkah, we are moving from the world of material to the world of spiritual. After Yom Kippur, we rely on HaShem to protect us in the flimsy Sukkah. In the realm of AWS, I moved from running hardware to configuring networks and systems via scripts and templates. And then I moved from running Linux to running code on Lambda. I no longer have to worry about the data center, that is the problem of AWS. I now can focus on what matters. At work this is the business logic of my system. At home, this is spending the holiday with my family and enjoying the time with each other. May we all have a delightful Sukkot, a Shabbat Shalom, and everyone stay safe and healthy.
