Ki Tisa - 2021

Chevre, this week’s parsha is כִּי תִּשָּׂא (Ki Tisa) and Parshat Parah. In this week’s parsha we learn about The Golden Calf AND it’s Parshat Parah. Now the Red Heffer is often considered a tikkun or fix for the sin of The Golden Calf. Because we sinned with The Golden Calf, we became impure and have to go through a process to purify ourselves. We learn about it now so that we will have time to purify before bringing our sacrifices on Pesach (Passover). I’m currently “reading” (via Audible) the book, Working Backwards [1] and we all know that being self critical and learning from our mistakes (like the Fire Phone) are critical to making progress in other realms (Alexa/Echo and Kindle). So here too with The Golden Calf, we are to learn some lessons. First lesson is that time is flexible when it comes to some some religious things. If, for example, Moshe is going up to Har Sinai and says “I’ll be right back” waiting 41 days instead of 40 may be important. Or Haman calculating Moshe’s day of Death (and the day he was born) may backfire. Finally, there have been many calculations over the years about when Mashiach and/or Redemption will come. What’s important is that we keep on progressing, being good people, making new products and services and focussing on those around us, our friends and families in our home lives and our customers at work. With this focus, success and/or Redemption will take care of themselves. Shabbat Shalom.
