Chevre, this week’s parsha is וַיְחִי (Vayechi). This is the final parsha of Sefer Beresheit. Most of the parsha is Yaakov giving “blessings” to his sons. It seems more like a Well Architected Framework Review where each son is highlighted for their strengths or faults during their lifetimes. Yaakov then requests to be buried in Hevron, he dies and there is the funeral in Hevron. While there, Yosef’s brothers are worried he will take revenge on them, so they tell him that their father wanted them to get along and for Yosef to not take revenge. Yosef weeps and reassures his brothers. He lives out his days, requests to be buried in Hevron as well, and dies in Egypt. With the close of Beresheit we have the end to most of the family drama. From next week we’ll be talking about the building of the people and the nation, although there is some drama with the family that is leading and creating the people/nation. I bless you all, and please bless me back, that you should have less drama in your family and work lives. May we have a quiet Shabbat and week ahead. Shabbat Shalom.
