Chevre, this week’s parsha is יִתְרוֹ (Yitro). There are a few interesting things in the parsha this week. The most poignant is that Yitro comes to Moshe and explains to him that he can’t do everything, he has to delegate. He had been sitting from morning to night doing everything himself. So Moshe took 70 elders who can be the judges of the smaller cases and only refer to Moshe, with his direct connection to HaShem for the difficult cases. In light of the news this week of Jeff moving up and Andy taking his place, it re-affirms that the parsha is relevant in our daily lives.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the Torah was given in this week’s parsha. It comes through as the 10 commandments. Unlike the LPs which are only there until we find better ones and which change from time to time, the 10 commandments have stood the test of time for 1000’s of years. We still study the Torah and it’s laws today and we still find relevance in it’s wisdom and it’s application to what we do every day. Shabbat Shalom.
