Kedoshim - 2022

Chevre, this week’s parsha in Israel is קְדֹשִׁים (Kedoshim). קְדֹשִׁ֣ים תִּהְי֑וּ כִּ֣י קָד֔וֹשׁ אֲנִ֖י ה“ אֱלֹקיכֶֽם “You shall be holy, for holy am I, HaShem your God.“ In the parsha we have a list of things that should or should not be done to make us holy. Honest business dealings, loving (brotherly) your neighbor, not mixing diverse species, moral correctness in times of war, honest weights and measures, eating only kosher or clean animals. During a discussion at the AWS London Summit this week someone mentioned not having an owners manual when becoming a parent. It struck me since when my son was born, it was the Torah that was the parenting guidelines for us. Do we always get it 100% right? No, no parent can be right 100% of the time, but it’s parshas like this that help guide people in the world to do the right thing and be good to each other. AWS gives immense opportunities to help customers accelerate and grow and we trust AWS to have honest weights and measures used in the billing systems. I look forward to a world that has no war, but in the meantime, the world needs to enforce the morals of conducting war. With the Israeli Memorial Day approaching next week, I’m honored by the conduct of our army to protect and defend the Jewish people morally in The Land of Israel. Shabbat Shalom
