Chevre, this week’s parsha is כִּי תֵצֵא **(Ki Tetze). This week’s parsha starts with capturing a woman during war. If someone wants to marry her, he must first shave her head, allow her to mourn her family for a month. If after a month he still wants her, he can marry her. If he doesn’t, he must release her and can’t enslave her. I’ve always found this passage interesting and strange. If we look at this through the lens of cloud, then when a new service comes out, run a POC, try it out, live with it for a month, see how the pricing works. Then if you’re still happy with it after the POC/trial, then start moving in the direction of production. I wouldn’t say this is limited to new services on the cloud, but any new to you service or service you don’t have experience with. Using this method, you’ll gain the experience in a safe environment before putting a large operational risk on this new service that you don’t yet fully understand. Shabbat Shalom.
