Chevre, this week’s parsha is Noach (נֹחַ). וַתִּשָּׁחֵ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ לִפְנֵ֣י הָֽאֱלֹקים וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ חָמָֽס (Genesis/Beresheit 6:11) The earth became corrupt before God; the land was filled with violence. Unfortunately, the land (Eretz Yisrael) is again filled with Hamas/Violence. The solution in Noach’s time was to have a flood and destroy the land, but then HaShem promised not to do that again. So now that job falls to the IDF. My family and I are physically safe in our area, but emotionally it is difficult to live in Israel and be emotionally whole. We support our friends, neighbors, and family who are currently on front lines around the country keeping us safe. 🇮🇱
Turning to our more normal topic, towards the end of the parsha we have the Tower of Babel. While there are many many languages now, this is the biblical reasoning behind them. What is interesting is with Generative AI, online Translators, we are becoming more and more connected and able to converse with each other despite many languages. We can even see multiple languages talking to each other like C, Python and Java via APIs. The important part of the story of the Tower of Babel is the intention. Folks today using technology are making our lives easier/better, but they are not trying to reach heaven or be god through these means.
I bless you all for a Shabbat Shalom.
