Chevre, this week’s parsha is Hazinu (האזינו). This is the last parsha that we’ll read on Shabbat. The next 2 Shabbatot will be Sukkot and Simchat Torah, where we will read special Torah readings and then complete (and restart) the reading the Torah.

The parsha is mostly taken up with The Song of Moshe. It’s his goodbye to the Israelites. He re-iterates a common theme of doing the “right” thing and staying on the Path of HaShem. As I have been re-evaluating things in my own life, due to the new year, I’ve been thinking about how to add resilience to some of the systems that I use. Many of them are sitting on cloud compute and many of them reboot/restart themselves after a problem. Building in the cloud makes this easier (at least cleaner around the house), but sometimes I question if the complexity is necessary. Then something will break and having some of that complexity will make it all work again automagically. Add in the AI’isms and running a workload in the cloud off something as simple as a raspberry pi is completely doable (just need it for the browser and maybe an SSH connection).

As we move into the new year and approach Yom Kippur early next week, what have you been thinking about and re-evaluating?
