Behar-Behukotai - 2020

Chevra, this week’s parsha is בְּהַר - בְּחֻקֹּתַי (Behar-Behukotai).

I’d like to start by saying thank you for all your warm wishes. My wife is home and recovering from her surgery. We feel truly blessed to have such great friends, family, neighbors and co-workers who have all helped us in so many different ways. It has been greatly appreciated.

This week, we finish reading Sefer Vayikra. One of the interesting things discussed this week is Shemitah. Every 7 years, we are not supposed to work the land. You can think of this as a kind of maintenance window. Once a week you have an RDS maintenance window when your DB is being used less, that is the time for AWS to perform upgrades and the like. Here, we are talking about having all the land lie fallow (not in use). It’s kinda like what we are doing to our offices these days. They are not being used. When we finally are able to go back to the office, it will be with such joy at returning to normal and seeing our friends and co-workers again. I am actually a little worried that 1/2 the folks in the office I won’t know since we are hiring so quickly. ;-) May this be the worst of our problems. Shabbat Shalom.
