Chevre, this week’s parsha is וָאֶתְחַנַן (VaEtchanan). This week we have a double wammy with the repetition of the 10 Commandments followed by the first paragraph of The Shema. In the introduction to the 10 commandments HaShem gives the reason we should follow him, he took us out of Egypt. Egypt in Hebrew is מצרים which means the narrow place. So HaShem took us out of the on-prem data center, the narrow place, to the cloud. And then in The Shema it says “וְאָ֣הַבְתָּ֔ אֵ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ בְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָ֥ וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁךָ֖ וּבְכׇל־מְאֹדֶֽךָ” which is usually translated as “You shall love your G-d with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” But I have also seen מְאֹדֶֽךָ to mean money or resources. So all your cloud resources should be used to love HaShem and only do good things. Which is followed by “You shall teach them thoroughly to your children and you shall speak of them while you sit in your home, while you walk on the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.” So the cloud knowledge that you are using for good should not be guarded as secret, but should be shared. Make that repo on GitHub public for anyone to find! May you all find the goodness in the journey and enjoy everyone you meet along the way. Shabbat Shalom.
