Vayeshev and Chanukah - 2023

Chevre, this week’s parsha is Vayeshev (וַיֵּשֶׁב) and Chanukah (חנוכה). This parsha, at least the very beginning really speaks to me this week. I’ve returned from abroad and Yaakov has too. He’s now settled down and encounters domestic issues. His favorite son, Yoseph, has his dream and has his special coat. The point of the coat is that with long sleeves, he can’t work like normal. This is an indication that, unlike his brothers, he does not work in the field.
